On Monday, 27 April 2015, Ambassador dr Ognjen Pribicevic took part in a round table discussion “Cleaning the neighborhood: How the EU can scrub out bad energy policy”, organized by the Center for European Reform. Other participants in the debate included Nick Butler, professor at Kings College, Stephen Tindale, research fellow at CER
and Dieter Helm from New College of Oxford University. The debate followed the launch of CER policy brief which encompassed reports on Serbia, Montenegro, Ukraine and Turkey.

In his statement, Ambassador Pribicevic pointed out that by signing the Energy Community Treaty, Serbia has made a major step forward in the process of joining EU. He said that 21.2 per cent of energy consumption in Serbia is based on renewable sources of energy, which means that it has already achieved the target required of EU candidate countries (20 per cent up to 2020). He indicated Serbia’s intention to reach even 27 per cent by 2020 and to shift a major part of its national electrical energy production to renewable sources.
