Minister Siniša Mali had a conversation with UK Minister for Exports Graham Stuart, which was attended by Minister of State at the Department for Transport Chris Heaton-Harris and Chief Executive of UK Export Finance Louis Taylor.
On this occasion, mutual interest in improving bilateral economic relations was reiterated. The ministers continued the discussion on the modalities of defining the institutional framework of cooperation which would facilitate the conclusion of business arrangements between the companies of the two countries.
Minister Mali informed his interlocutors about the favorable economic situation in Serbia, which is the result of well-conceived steps by the Government of the Republic of Serbia in the fight against the pandemic. In addition to the opportunities provided by large infrastructure projects, the Minister also pointed out the potential for investment in the real estate market and tourism.
Minister Stuart emphasized the importance of Serbia in the region, which opens additional space for the presence of large British companies in our market. The British side praised the results that Serbia has achieved in the economic field in the context of the pandemic crisis, noting that the current credit rating of Serbia fully meets the criteria of the UK Export Finance.
During his working visit to London, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Serbia Siniša Mali met with Chief Executive of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs Jim Harra. The interlocutors expressed readiness to continue concrete steps towards further improvement of bilateral economic cooperation, for which there is a great, untapped potential. Both sides confirmed their readiness to sign a bilateral agreement on customs cooperation as soon as possible, which, along with the already signed Agreement on Partnership, Trade and Cooperation, will contribute to a stronger use of the potential of economic cooperation. At the beginning of the talks, experiences in the vaccination process of the two countries were exchanged. Minister Mali used the opportunity to present the good economic indicators that R. Serbia is achieving despite the conditions of the pandemic.
